This paper is part of the narrative about Liberty in Naples, favoring a reading of the phenomenon through the updating of the figurative language of the applied arts. Thanks to the article Salotto moderno nell‘appartamento del Signor Giovanni Cafiero in Napoli we can add an job to the curriculum of the architect Gaetano Costa (1865-?), figure few studied. The photo of this interior, the only one found so far, allows the comparison with the English models published by the magazine «The Studio» makes it possible to identify the influences of European design on artistic and industrial production and consequently on the orientations of the  Neapolitan bourgeoisie’s taste. In addition, in the 1900, the year of the International Exhibition in Paris, we have a new point of view for reflection about assimilation capacity and rework of the forms of this transversal artistic phenomenon.
