The article explores the intersection between hashtag activism and memory activism, understood as a complex of autonomous practices aimed at strategically memorialising contested historical events, focusing on specific cases emerging in Palestinian digital culture. In such a context characterised by the interdiction of memory and the inability to commemorate, hashtags are mobilised to catalyse textual and visual content orbiting around obfuscated imaginaries and memories. Through a digital ethnographic analysis and mapping of specific hashtags, e.g. #mynakbastory and #mypalestiniansitty, the paper highlights how digital technologies and social platforms facilitate the articulation and dissemination of contested memories and reveals how hashtag memory activism contributes to creating spaces of enunciation for marginalised subjectivities, offering a critical perspective on the role of hashtags as cultural entities that intervene in the reproduction and accumulation of collective memories in the public sphere.
