163This paper focuses on the burgeoning interest in Digital twins (Dt) on the part of social sciences. Dt can be defined as systems, physical and/or virtual, or computational models that simulate, emulate, mirror, or «twin» the life of a physical entity. This entity can be an object, a process, a human being, or a human-related characteristic. By integrating data from sensors, machine learning algorithms, and simulation models, Dt enable real-time performance monitoring, prediction of future behaviors, and identification of potential problems before they occur. Following several years in which Dt technologies were predominantly the domain of Stem disciplines, the significance of adopting a multidisciplinary approach has become increasingly evident. This recognition has led to a gradual engagement of the social sciences, although considerable progress is still required in this direction. The aim of this work is to reconstruct the narratives regarding Dt through key informants directly involved in the topic. The study of narratives represents a fundamental area of research for the humanities and social sciences, especially when it comes to narratives surrounding a new technology. This step is crucial for the formulation of public policies that leverage technology or regulations that govern it. Our research design includes interviews with selected experts on the topic from both Stem and the socio-humanistic fields.
