Fantozzi discusses Patriarca's latest book, which explores the presence of anti-Black racism in postwar Italy through the lens of the «problem» of mixed-race children. Three main issues are addressed: the multiplicity of anti-Black discourse; the role of Catholic culture in legitimising a charitable and moralistic, yet nonetheless mixophobic, stigmatising and discriminatory form of racialism; and the specific features of the post-fascist Republic in comparison with other national contexts.
