The 2024 general elections in France and the United Kingdom provide an opportunity to examine the interplay between religion and politics in two distinct yet historically connected contexts. While French political actors continue to debate the meaning and implications of "laïcité", in the United Kingdom, where religion remains embedded in constitutional structures, the religious factor plays a subtler but still significant role in political discourse. This article compares the treatment of religious themes in the electoral campaigns of both countries, analyzing party manifestos and public debates.
