The essay focuses on the second part of Corporale, Volponi’s most important novel published in 1974, to partially investigate the complex processes of textual elaboration and to understand the function and role of the character Murieta, an alternative personality of the first protagonist, Gerolamo Aspri. Murieta is certainly the result of a schizoid process, but he also represents Volponi’s attempt to engage, through narrative resources, with the young generation of protesters active in Italy during the late 1960s and 1970s
