80The essay studies the publishing activity of the Polyglot Printing Office of the Congregation de Propaganda Fide specialized in printing in non-Latin characters of the various Oriental languages between the 17th and 18th centuries. Some issues related to the concrete functioning of the printing house as a publishing enterprise, the organization of work, the selection of personnel, and the production, acquisition, and circulation of typographic material in non-Latin characters related to Orientalist book production are explored. It also examines, in the context of Roman Orientalism, the cultural profile of the various superintendents, who were responsible for the publishing policy and financing of the printing house. In the period studied, it is observed that the languages and alphabets of the Near East are joined by those of the Indian area.
