Mentalization represents a key dimension for understanding and treating eating disorders in the developing age. It develops within the social matrix of attachment relationships and when it is impaired individuals become more vulnerable to develop clinical problems such as eating disorders. Although scientific research shows a growing interest for the mentalization in eating disorders, at the clinical level it is still poorly implemented within diagnostic assessment and treatments. Therefore, promoting its knowledge in clinical setting would be desirable.
