71Civic engagement, defined «as individual and collective actions designed to identify and ad dress issues of public concern» (APA, 2009), can play a major role in how societies navigate unprecedented times of societal crisis. However, the literature on crisis civic engagement, especially online civic engagement, is limited. Therefore, this study aims to address this gap by focusing on how Romanians coped with the war in neighboring Ukraine. Results of Latent Profile Analysis conducted on a sample of 439 participants (Mage = 26.17, SDage = 9.80) identified the following civic engagement profiles: "Offline focused engagement", "High online and offline engagement", "Disengaged", "Online focused engagement", "Very high online and offline engagement", which were analyzed in relation with two psychological correlates, namely co-rumination and meaning in life. In addition to this, five meaning in life profiles were also identified: "Lack of meaning", "Fulfilled", "Light searchers", "Undifferentiated", "Fulfilled searchers". Overall, the results capture a «bright side» (i.e., higher presence of meaning) and a potential «dark side» of civic engagement (i.e., co-rumination), while also highlighting the need for more comprehensive methods of studying it.
