388This article advances an analysis of "a lilla", a manuscript by Pietro Ghizzardi, edited in 1980 by Giovanni Negri and Gustavo Marchesi for the publisher Vanni Scheiwiller. It is a lament dedicated to the dog Lilla, enriched by extensive reflections on ecological issues. In addition to exhibiting the distinctive features typical of semi-illiterate writers – such as the absence of punctuation, irregular syntactic structures, and dialectal influences – the text also highlights morphological peculiarities already evident in Ghizzardi’s autobiography "Mi richordo anchora" (Einaudi 1976), which earned him the Viareggio Prize in 1977. The paper focuses on the phonetic and morphological features of the text before examining its syntax, which unfolds in an enunciative flow with an epicyclic structure. Given the strong expressiveness of the narrative, the analysis also closely examines the mechanisms of figurative language, rhetorical strategies, and lexical choices – elements that make "a lilla" an experimental reflection on the mysteries of death and nature. Ultimately, this study aims to highlight the stylistic and linguistic features that characterize "a lilla", revealing its richness as a narrative experiment that challenges traditional linguistic and stylistic conventions.
