February 3rd, 2025, passed away in Madrid the legal philosopher and political scientist Elías Díaz, born in 1934. Important figure in the Spanish academic and cultural world, as an anti-Franco militant he suffered prison, confinement and the prohibition of several of his publications. He participated in the formation of the Spanish democratic constitution of 1978 and was a critical militant in the field of democratic socialism. The present article traces his university career and synthetically reviews his main works. In particular, his close relationship with the "Turin School" of philosophy of law is highlighted, i.e. with Norberto Bobbio and Renato Treves. He also promoted the translation into Spanish not only of these two authors, but also of numerous Italian scholars.
