The focus of this article is on the evidence-based guidelines of WPATH, SOC 8, which emphasize the importance of a person-centered approach, and on the methodological shortcomings of the Cass Review (2024). A specific focus will be given to the risks of the approach based on «clinical common sense». Finally, the need for specialized expertise to ensure appropriate and respectful care will be discussed.
