The article proposes a thematic analysis of the "remarques" on Pascal’s "Pensées" that Voltaire collected in the twenty-fifth and last of his "Lettres Philosophiques". In particular, the text focuses on the treatment, by the two French authors, of the phenomenon of "divertissement" and its main conceptual, moral and anthropological implications. To conduct this investigation it was necessary, first of all, to identify which of the 57 Voltairean annotations raise, even indirectly, the question of "divertissement" and the theoretical problems related to it, including the temporal dimension of human existence, the interaction of the latter with the world and its inextinguishable tension towards an unreachable state of quiet. The overall result of this study is the prospect of a glimpse which, although limited to just one of the many occasions in which Pascal and Voltaire faced each other, nevertheless offers a suggestive image of the intricate relationship between two of the most notable representatives of modern French philosophy.
