The Italian translation of the "Elemente der literarischen Rhetorik", published in 1969, is not only a tribute to her teacher and colleague Heinrich Lausberg, but also a fundamental turning point in Lea Ritter Santini’s studies and literary and cultural mediation activities. Recognising in Ernst Robert Curtius’s theory the matrix of Lausberg’s «science of persuasion», Ritter Santini provides an interpretation of it in dialogue with the strand of structuralism most sensitive to the dialectic between synchrony and diachrony, at the same time laying the methodological foundations for her subsequent studies in myth criticism.
