In this contribution the author intends to highlight how the realization of happiness, in our time, is often an overrated goal as a purpose to give meaning to life: a goal conditioned by external social pressures rather than internal needs of the person. In clinical practice we often meet people that are incentive to achieve pre-established forms of success. This propensity drives to a performance that requires to accelerate vertiginously the times of individual growth, leading to a disconnect with the most authentic part of oneself. Unhappiness risks becoming a taboo, as if a synonymous of failure. The analytic reverie thus a place where we could be able to oscillate between opposites, to support the confidence in finding your own realization and harmonize the dialogue between the intrapsychic and the interpersonal element of the person.
