This article proposes a reasoned review of the theoretical and practical aspects of the legal regulation of the phenomenon of the so-called «end of life» in Italy. From palliative care to advance treatment directives (DAT) and shared care planning (PCC), from medically assisted suicide (SMA) to euthanasia, the long regulatory and jurisprudential path that led to the composition of the complex legal «puzzle» of the end of life in Italy between ethics and law is described.
