65This article explores the sonic dimension of water as an archive of human and more-than-human histories. Drawing on sound studies and cultural geography, it examines how auditory experiences mediate our perception of water as a dynamic medium of memory, culture, and resistance. Focusing on the radiophonic work And Then the Sea Came Back by AM Kanngieser and Polly Stanton, the analysis highlights water’s role as both witness and narrator of environmental and colonial histories. Through an ethics of listening, the article reframes water as an active agent in the preservation and transmission of plural, situated knowledges.
