The Russian-Ukrainian war has rapidly gained prominence in global media, politics, and public opinion, becoming a central topic for local journalism as well. This study analyzes the frames that emerged in local television coverage in Puglia during the first three months of the conflict, based on 476 news videos broadcast by regional and provincial networks. Using content coding to distinguish thematic areas, followed by lexicometric analysis to identify frames, the study highlights the predominance of the humanitarian theme, with a particular focus on victims and the solidarity shown by the Apulian community. The findings indicate that local television coverage engages in a second-degree localization process, positioned at the intersection of the «humanitarian interest frame» and the «intractable conflict». This coverage emphasizes human and cultural proximity, underscoring solidarity and ethical commitment. In contrast, diplomatic-political, economic, and war-strategic themes are less prominent, following national narratives but enriched with local specificities. The study underscores the role of local journalism in mobilizing symbolic resources and fostering a sense of belonging and emotional proximity between the Apulian community and the Ukrainian people.
