The imprisonment of a parent produces psychological, social, and even psychopathological effects and risks for children. It’s not just the separation and the difficulty maintaining contact and processing the reasons for the parent’s imprisonment, but also the risk of social isolation and stigmatization. This paper aims to analyze the complex impact on family members, impacts that require supportive interventions, with a view to promoting mental health and preventing developmental and psychosocial risks.
